In memory of

Barbara Anne Smith (nee Stevenson)

1928 - 2021

Barbara Anne Smith (nee Stevenson)

June 16, 1928 - December 6, 2021

Died peacefully on December 6th in her 94th year. Loving daughter of the late Raymond Stevenson and Anne Morrison. Devoted wife of the late William (Bill) Smith, Beloved mother to the Mitchell children- Malcolm (predeceased), Bryan (Donna), Mary (Jim, predeceased), Jane, Susan (Vince), and Martha (Frank). As well as Bill's children Peter and Linda Smith. Treasured Nani to David, Michael, Andrew, Patrick, Catherine, Jessica, Jennifer, Kendra, Razvan, and Lara as well as six great grandchildren.

A dedicated teacher, talented gardener, adventurous traveller, enthusiastic golfer and curler. Her greatest achievement and source of pride was her family. She taught us to care, appreciate, respect, and love each other and those most important to us.

A proud graduate of Bishop's University (BA 1948). She was a devoted teacher in the secretarial program at Mont Notre-Dame school and later Champlain College for many years. A lifelong resident of Lennoxville, she was an active member of the community including volunteering and attending Lennoxville United Church.

Mom, you will be deeply missed by all. Your love, spirit and strength will always be with us.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will take place in June 2022.

Special thanks and appreciation to the caregivers at Grace Village Charlene, Haley, Tabitha, Chris Johanne, and Savio for their dedicated care of our mother.

My sympathy to the family. Such a nice lady. So enjoyed curling with Barb.

- Barb Ward, on December 9, 2021

We miss Barb so much, and thank her for leaving us with such positive, warm memories. Our “family oldies” trips together were always the highlight of our year. Years after we stopped our golf / food / fun adventures, Nita and I would still reminisce about the specialness of our experiences. Barb was a wonderful role model, and her kids absorbed her generous inclusiveness.

What to say except she was a grand lady, in all aspects. She touched so many lives, mine included. As a teacher at Champlain (always a smile, always professional), a golfer (she had the loveliest swing), as my curling skip (never did I have a bad shot according to Barb). So many years, so many good memories. My sympathies and I know how she will be missed. Her family was all important.
