Irwin, Gordon Alexander
1928-2026
Son of the late Alexander McLean Irwin and Muriel Olive Brown.
He leaves his loving wife of 67 years, Loretta Ann Grainger. He also leaves his children Lindsay (Chantal Duchesne), Krista (Pierre Biron), Stephen aka “Duke”, his grandchildren Michael Roberge, Marshall Irwin and Amanda Irwin, his great grandchildren Melody, Penelope, Betty Rose Roberge, Jake Irwin, Bronwyn and Alleria Guerin. He will be missed by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bev and Ron Jones, Daryl and Eileen Grainger as well as by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Gordon worked for many years as a Sales Rep for Bristol Meyers/Colgate Palmolive. He retired in 1992. He was a renowned artist with his paintings adorning the walls of homes in Australia, France, England, USA and Canada. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #15 for 72 years. He was a guitar player and in the early 1950’s played in a local band “The Prairie Ramblers” playing weekly on CKTS radio. He was very proud of his Irish Ancestry, his family arriving in Canada in the 1840’s. He spent most of his life in Kingsbury which he always called home. The last 5 years of his life he was a resident of the Wales Home battling with Alzheimer’s disease. Sadly, he lost the battle on January 10 with his wife by his side.
A sincere thank you to all the wonderful caregivers on Norton 1 for their kindness and compassionate care.
Resting at the Cass funeral Home, 295 Principal S. Richmond on Saturday, January 24 from 12:30 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Burial, at St. Andrew’s Cemetery Melbourne, to take place in the spring.
Sympathy Messages
To the family of Gordon, my sincere sympathy to the family. I often met your mom in the hallway at Norton1, when I would visit my mom Margaret Vintinner until mom passed away last July, i could see in your mother's eyes she took great care and patience with such tremendous respect for Gordon.
My prayers will be with you during this time of mourning. Hopefully Gordon has finally found peace and will watch over all of you and cherish the good memories you shared all together .
May my support warm your heart
