Peacefully passed away on February 26, 2026, surrounded by his immediate family.
Wayne was a loved husband, father, grand and great grandfather. He was married to his only love Louise Cass for 63 years, and father of Robert (Gerri Lasenba), Donna (Brent McVetty) and Elizabeth (Mario Pittui) as well as having many grand and great grandchildren.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Jessie Nutbrown, as well as his late siblings and spouses Arlene Rothney (Russell), Russell (Joan Dezan), Phyllis Robichaud (Curt) and Gloria Matheson (Lachlan). He leaves to mourn his close in-laws Marilyn Cass, Wendell Cass (Elzada), Diane Lachapelle (Claude), Phyllis Cass (late David Sparkes) and was loved by countless nieces and nephews.
He was a lover of antique tractors and cars, always being Farmall and Ford Model T’s both of which he rebuilt many. He also loved the maple sugar season tapping trees, boiling the sap and making the maple syrup with his son Robert.
Wayne could be found many Saturday nights playing ``old time`` country and bluegrass music at many local dance halls. He mastered many instruments, but his favorites were the fiddle, banjo and bass guitar.
In his younger years he loved playing hockey being a goalie and he loved the Maple Leafs. In later years he loved following the Sherbrooke Pheonix getting to know many players.
He will also be missed by many friends, especially Ron and Paulette Haseltine and Andrew Ward and Angela Nutbrown.
A private graveside service will be held.
Donations can be made to the Terry Fox Foundation (https://terryfox.org)

We are very sorry to lose our friend, Wayne. He and Bruce and Sharon played a lot of music together, at too many dances and halls to count. We also enjoyed time together with him and Louise “down home”, in Maine, playing cards, and dancing in Canaan. Our most sincere sympathies and warmest of thoughts to Louise, Robert, Donna, and Elizabeth, and all of their families.

My fondest memories of Wayne are of the years we played at Nick Dean's Barn in Prescott's Orchestra
with Sid, Basil, Dad and Ti Blanc Richard. We had a lot of fun playing the country hits of the day interspersed with fiddle tunes and Wayne, on bass guitar, never missed a beat. I always appreciated his feel for music, his sense of humour, and the way he could tell a story. He was also a pretty darn good goalie when he played for the Bulwer Comets.
Thinking of all Wayne's family and friends at this difficult time.
