Marilyn Gilmartin

1935 - 2024

Marilyn Gilmartin 89, of Stanstead, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side. She was born on June 6th, 1935 in Bury.

Marilyn loved reading, doing puzzles, and thoroughly enjoyed knitting and spending countless hours crocheting monkeys and other creatures for her family and friends to enjoy. She also kept herself busy with many different arts and crafts. Marilyn loved spending time with her family and was well known for her kind smile and her heart of gold. She was also well known for the many years she spent working at Spencer’s as a seamstress/cutter in Rock Island.

Marilyn was predeceased by her long time partner Ernest Nicholson, her parents Evelyn and Patrick Gilmartin, her brothers Patrick and Lorne Gilmartin and her son in law Donald Labonte.

She was survived by her daughters Darleen Rever and Deborah Brown and her husband James Brown. Her brother John Gilmartin and wife Betty Gilmartin, sister Merrily Slawson and husband Gary Slawson, sister Jane Therrien and husband Maurice Therrien and sister in law, Geneva Gilmartin. Her grandchildren, Joshua Brown and his wife Amber Brown, Melissa Labonte, Samantha Labonte and her husband Charles-Olivier Levasseur, Sheena Brown and her partner, Benjamin Farrow. She is also survived by 7 beloved great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the staff at CHUS in Fleurimont, for the exceptional care provided during this difficult time. The kindness and consideration spent there was greatly appreciated.

A visitation will take place at the Cass Funeral Home in Stanstead, 545, Dufferin, Stanstead, Qc, on Saturday, October 19th at 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a celebration à 11:00 am.
