 August 31, 1967 -  March 19, 2026

With heavy hearts, we regretfully announce the passing of Scott Kirby, in his 59th year, at his home in Coaticook. Scott was the youngest son of the late Ian Kirby and the late Winnona Wheeler. He leaves to mourn his beloved children, Grant (Brianna Irwin) and Kelly. Scott will be sadly missed by his siblings, Bruce (late Sharron Raymond), Lois (Lyle Roarke), Peter (late Dianne Hyatt), Ross (Mary-Ellen Sylvester), Robert (Julia Lancaster), Susan (late Steve Barter) and Elaine, as well as his many nieces and nephews and members of the Naylor, Sylvester & Patterson families that he counted as his own.

Born and raised on the family farm in Ive’s Hill, Scott attended school in Lennoxville and graduated from Alexander Galt Regional High School. After receiving his Diploma in Agriculture at MacDonald College in1986, Scott worked on farms in Ontario and Bermuda. Following a serious accident in Bermuda, he came home to begin the long process of recovery. Scott’s determined spirit and strong work ethic helped him rebuild an independent life. He loved farming and worked on several farms in the Coaticook area before taking a job at Defi Polytek’s Coaticook facility in 2010. Scott could always be found helping friends and family on show days at the local fairs and was a regular competitor at fall ploughing matches. Scott was well-known for his friendly, outgoing nature. He enjoyed visiting with folks, was always up for a good game of cribbage and looked forward to catching up with his Mac buddies at their reunions. Scott was fond of his church family at Beulah United Church in Ayer’s Cliff and loved to help out at church events. His cheerfulness and hearty chuckle will be missed by so many.

Scott’s family will receive condolences on Friday, April 17th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St, Sherbrooke (Lennoxville). The funeral will be held Saturday, April 18th at 10 am in the Lennoxville United Church, 6 Church St. Sherbrooke (Lennoxville), followed by internment in Johnville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott’s memory would be much appreciated by the family. Donations can be sent to Johnville Cemetery: c/o Erna Brigden Amyot, 231 Ch. Jordan Hill, Cookshire-Eaton J0B 1M0; or Ive’s Hill Community Centre: c/o Jennifer Sylvester, 159 Ch. Moe’s River, Compton J0B 1L0; or Sherbrooke Ploughman’s Association: c/o Felicia Kirby, 50 Champigny, Sherbrooke J1M 0A4.
