It is with deep sadness that the family of Murray Powell announces his passing on January 2, 2026, in Renfrew, ON in his 83rd year.
Murray leaves in mourning his much-loved children Laurie (Peter Sarrasin) and Lorne (Kim Mills); his grandchildren Forrest Sarrasin (Estelle), Sasha Doughtery (Nick), Shannon Blakely (Jon), Spencer Powell (Morgan); his great-grandchildren Riley, Raven, Rayna Doughtery, Lillith and Lenora Blakely; his partner and friend Bev Powell of Renfrew ON.
Three siblings survive him: Susan Powell of St. Thomas, ON, Malcolm (Liz) Powell of Ashton, ON, Bill (Debbie) Powell of Duncan, BC; sister-in-law Joan Powell, brothers-in-law Fred Sarrasin, Bob (Sue) Sarrasin; sister-in law Margaret Blake. Also left to mourn are several nieces and nephews.
Welcoming him into heaven are his wife, Ruthie Sarrasin; his parents Bert and Pansy Powell; siblings Morven, Ronald, Donald, David, Ross, Tom, Roberta; sister-in law Rita Sarrasin.
Murray will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as an outstanding father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and an active community supporter and citizen.
Burial has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on February 14th in the Waterville United Church basement between 11am-2pm.
In Murray’s memory, donations to Milby Cemetery, c/o Joan Powell, 4470 Rte. 147, Waterville, QC, J0B 3H0 will be gratefully accepted.

Deepest sympathies. I have great memories of Uncle Murray when I was young use to go stay at the farm. He was a great person and will be dearly missed.

I’m extremely saddened to learn of Murray’s passing… or, as I used to call him… “Schneider”!
I have fond memories of him helping mom and dad build their house. His distinctive laughter, warm voice, and perfectly timed wit made it easy for people of all ages to warm up to him.
Rest easy, Schneider!!!
