The family of Eldon Wayne MacDonald are saddened to announce his passing, surrounded by loved ones, on October 14, 2025 at Grace Village.
He was the devoted son of Alexander and Monna (Herring) MacDonald.
Mourning his loss are his beloved wife of 62 years, Janet Sewell: his children Mike (Karen) and Gina (Dwight): grandchildren Owen (Heidy) and Liam (Justine) MacDonald, Isaac & Amanda (Ann-Jessica) Andrews: great-grandchildren Willow and Rawson MacDonald, other family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, infant twin siblings Lyle and Lois, his brother Stan (late Benita) and brother-in-law Carl (late Sybil) Sewell.
Eldon was a faithful steward of the land bought by his parents in 1933, always taking what was there and making it better, now proudly watching it evolve as the next two generations have taken the reins. He quietly taught us by his actions about faithfulness to his wife, family and Church, a good work ethic, buying only what was needed and saving for our “wants” and knowing the difference between the two.
Always a hard-working and self-sufficient farmer, Alzheimer's slowly robbed Eldon of his ability to work safely with the machinery and animals, then made his memories confusing or inaccessible. His sense of humor remained intact, as well as the knowledge that we were family when we visited. He and Janet were able to live together at Grace Village in the same room to the very end, one comfort that was so important to each of them, for which we are so grateful.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 25, at St Andrew’s Church (256 Queen St., Lennoxville) at 2 p.m. Visitation will take place on Friday, October 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Church as well as Saturday from 1 p.m. A light lunch will follow the service. Burial will take place at another time.
