Janet “Jann” Anne Stevenson passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at the age of 88, under the exceptional care of the palliative care team at Magog Hospital. Born in East Angus, Quebec, on February 15, 1938, she was the beloved daughter of the late Bessie Hazel (Rudd) and Allan Fairfield Stevenson.
Janet will be deeply missed by her sister, Velma Eryou (Richard). She was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Stevenson, and his wife, Janet.
A natural caregiver, Janet dedicated her long career to nursing, serving her community with deep warmth, skill, and compassion. Though she had no children of her own, she poured her heart into her family as a devoted aunt. She adored her nieces and nephews—Robert (Louise), Brenda (Reay), Darlene (Bryan), Nancy (Dave), Kenneth (Sophie), and Timothy (Vivian)—and doted on her many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Janet loved welcoming them to the farm, taking them to the lake for swimming and canoeing, going skiing and golfing. She also leaves behind her godchild, Jane, and her dear friends Peanut, Lynn, and Pat.
Janet was a vibrant, lifelong learner with a boundless passion for life and the arts. An avid reader, she stayed active through golf, skiing, canoeing, and windsurfing, and later in life picked up Tai Chi, painting, and bridge. An ardent animal lover, she cherished all her dogs over the years, though her sweet dog, Kip, held a particularly special place in her heart.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Magog Hospital, with special thanks to the palliative care team for their exceptional kindness and devotion.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Bown Cemetery in Bury, Quebec. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a gathering to celebrate Janet’s life at her home in Lennoxville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet’s memory may be made to the Bown Cemetery.
