À la mémoire de

Ryan Andrew Nicholson

1992 - 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ryan Andrew Nicholson at age 33, on December 18, 2025. Born on February 1, 1992, in Sudbury, Ontario, Ryan’s life was defined by a deep intellectual curiosity, creative spirit, and meaningful connections.

He began his education at Chelmsford Public School while living in Azilda. After moving to Sudbury, he attended Ernie Checkeris and Carl Nesbitt Public Schools before continuing on to Lasalle Secondary School. Determined to follow his own path, Ryan earned his GED and later graduated from Cambrian College with an Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.

After completing the pre-courses to the Electrical Engineering program at Lake Head University Ryan joined WSP as an Electrical Designer, in the hopes of completing his Electrical Engineering Degree while building tenure at the company.  He spoke highly of co-workers Lucy, Cynthia, John and Toby.

Music was a lifelong passion for Ryan. From a young age, he took guitar and piano lessons and later worked at Jet Landry Music. Surrounded by instruments and the support of Jet, Lucy, and Jet Junior, this experience became a treasured part of his journey and nurtured his musical talents.

Ryan’s interests were wide-ranging. A dedicated reader, he explored classic literature and delved into subjects like politics and investment strategies. He also had a deep appreciation for nature. As a teenager, he enjoyed camping, hiking, and canoeing—especially with his uncle Hugh.  Memorable trips through Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park, White Mountain in New Hampshire and the Silhouette Trail, in Killarney Park, inspired Ryan to capture over 500 photographs. In recent years, he shared hikes through Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and the La Cloche Mountains with Kady.

Ryan is lovingly remembered by his partner Kady Bilodeau; forever in the hearts of parents Dennis and Heather Nicholson; brother Daniel Nicholson; grandmothers Shirley Nicholson and Roberta McMullan.  Missed dearly by aunts and uncles Doug McMullan Jr. (Liz Dumas) Hugh McMullan, Len Nicholson (Kathy), Tracy Nadeau (Jim McKay), and Terry Nicholson (Vicki Savard); as well as his cousins Jake (Natasha), Justin (Chelsey), Darren (Jackie), Vanessa (Devon), Carson, Christopher (Tia), Hanna, Esme and long time friend Brodie Chisholm.

He is reunited in peace with his grandfathers Gary Nicholson and Douglas McMullan Sr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Ryan’s memory.

Ryan was so caring, gentle, smart, polite, kind hearted, and the most soft spoken person we’ve ever met. He was such a kind soul. Always quiet with a big smile. He had a big heart and had so much love to give. He always put everyone else before himself, even his cats. They were his babies. I am so glad that we got to know and love Ryan for the last seven years. I am grateful for all the memories that we’ve shared. Ryan was an awesome uncle to Kerra and Ruby and was like a brother to me, and will always be. If all of our love for you could have kept you here then you would have stayed forever. 🕊️ We miss you. We’ll never ever forget you. I love you Ryan. We all love you so much uncle Ryan. Until we meet again. 🕊️ Love, Roxy, Bob, Kerra & Ruby Our sympathies to all of your loved ones.

Ryan was my partner and best friend for the past 7 years. He and I shared so many great memories together, exploring new places and trying new things together. He made me feel so loved and cared for. He literally told me I was beautiful and that he loved me every single day. He was such a good person with a good heart. So intelligent, passionate, dedicated, funny, kind and curious. He helped me to grow in so many ways and inspired me to be a better person. I love his family so much and I hope that we all will heal from this tragic loss. Ryan's memory will be with me for the rest of my life. I will never forget the wonderful times we had and I will take great care of our kitties. I love and miss you, Ryan. I really wish you were still here with us and I am so grateful that I got to be a part of your life and your family 💚💚💚
