Marie-José Pang, épouse de Kwok Lun Pang (Ivan Pang), est décédée paisiblement le 16 août 2025 à Edmonton, en Alberta, à l’âge de soixante-huit ans.
Elle est née le 21 août 1956 à Québec, fille de Louis C. O’Neil, scientifique, éducateur passionné par son travail et membre fondateur du département de biologie de l’Université de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke, Québec), et d’Huguette Tanguay O’Neil, journaliste indépendante et écrivaine, auteure de sept ouvrages.
Elle a passé son enfance à Lennoxville, au Québec, et a fait ses études à Sherbrooke, au Québec. À l’âge adulte, elle a déménagé à Edmonton et a travaillé pendant plus de 25 ans pour la ville d’Edmonton au sein du département des ressources humaines. En 1979, elle a rencontré Kwok Lun Pang et l’a épousé le 7 juillet 1981. Ensemble, ils ont eu un enfant.
Elle laisse dans le deuil son époux, Kwok Lun Pang, et sa fille, Elisabeth Mai Tai Pang, son gendre, Eric Motuzas, ainsi que ses deux petits-enfants, Alexander Maximus Motuzas et Annabelle Mei Motuzas. Sont également en deuil ses trois sœurs et son frère, à savoir Christine (avec son mari, Pierre Gagné, et son fils, Mathieu Lavergne Gagné), Bernard (avec ses enfants, Kiernan, Liam et Alannah Rois O’Neil, et sa compagne Salina Der), Anne (avec son mari, Martin Latendresse, et leurs enfants, Estelle, Sophie et Elliot
Latendresse), Lucie (avec ses enfants, Alexa et Samuel O’Neil-Tanner), ses deux beaux-frères et ses quatre belles-sœurs de New York et Hong Kong, ainsi que leurs conjointes et conjoints. Ses nièces, ses neveux et de nombreux amis sont également touchés par son décès.
La famille souhaite exprimer sa profonde gratitude à tous les professionnels de la santé qui lui ont prodigué des soins empreints de compassion et qui l’ont réconfortée au cours des dernières années.

Marie-José Pang, wife of Kwok Lun Pang (Ivan Pang), died peacefully on August 16, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of sixty-eight.
She was born on August 21, 1956, in the City of Québec, the daughter of Louis C. O’Neil, a scientist and educator who was passionate about his work and a founding member of the Biology Department at l’Université de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke University, Sherbrooke, Québec), and Huguette Tanguay O’Neil, a freelance journalist and writer who authored seven books.
She grew up in Lennoxville, Québec, and completed her education in Sherbrooke, Québec. As an adult, she moved to Edmonton, where she worked for over 25 years for the City of Edmonton in the Human Resources Department. In 1979, she met Kwok Lun Pang whom she went on to marry on July 7, 1981. Together, they had one child, Elisabeth.
She is survived by her husband, Kwok Lun Pang, along with her daughter, Elisabeth Mai Tai Pang, and her son-in-law, Eric Motuzas, as well as her two beloved grandchildren, Alexander Maximus Motuzas and Annabelle Mei Motuzas. Also in mourning are her three sisters and brother, namely Christine (with her husband, Pierre Gagné, and his son, Mathieu Lavergne Gagné), Bernard (with his children, Kiernan, Liam and Alannah Rois O’Neil, and his partner Salina Der), Anne (with her husband, Martin Latendresse, and their children, Estelle, Sophie and Elliot Latendresse), Lucie (with her children, Alexa and Samuel O’Neil-Tanner), her two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law of New York and Hong Kong, along with their spouses. Her nieces, nephews, and many friends are also touched by her passing.
The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to all the health care workers who provided compassionate care and comforting presence over the past few years.
