À la mémoire de

Ronald John Husk

1928 - 2026

Ronald John Husk
March 24th, 1928 – February 7th, 2026

After a short illness, Ronald Husk passed away on Saturday, February 7th, in his 98th year, surrounded by family at the CHUS Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
He was born and raised on the family farm in L'Avenir, Quebec. He was predeceased by his father, Stafford Husk, and his mother, Joyce Ascah Husk; his first wife, Marjorie Stevenson Husk; and his second wife, Amy Harrison Webster Husk. He was also predeceased by his sisters Mabel (the late Geoff Peach), Ruth (the late Charles Higgs), and Isabel (Raymond Flanders).
He leaves to mourn his sons, Brian (Wilma Berwick) of Pierrefonds, QC; Barry (Joan Dupuy) of Drummondville, QC; and Peter (Hélène Dumoulin Husk) of L'Orignal, ON. He leaves his grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick), John (Andréanne), and Jessica (Nicolas), as well as his great-grandchildren, Emily, Liam, Roman, and Margot. He also leaves his stepchildren, Harrison (Siobhan), Jamie, Robert (Jackie), and Christine Webster.
He will be greatly missed by his cousins, Esther Healy and Miriam Staudt, as well as by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and his exceptional neighbours Helen and the late Alan Cox.
Ron had a stellar 42-year career with Southern Canada Power and Hydro-Québec, during which he moved from Sherbrooke to Drummondville to Otterburn Park, and finally back to Lennoxville. He was married to Marjorie until her untimely death in 1985, at which time he decided to retire. In 1988 he married Amy and they spent several years in Cookshire-Eaton, planting and tending to their large garden until health issues required them to move to the Wales home where Amy passed away in 2023. Ron considered himself to be privileged to have been married to these two exceptional women for 35 years each.
He was an avid curler at the Lennoxville Curling Club and a long-standing member of the Sherbrooke Snowshoe Club. He was a dedicated steward of the United Church and served on the boards of directors of the Wales Home and the Malvern Cemetery.
He was always ready to help anyone in need and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International for "service above self and outstanding contribution to the community".
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the dedicated staff of the Wales Home for the exemplary care he received as a resident.
A graveside service will be held at a later date, to be determined.

Donations to the Wales Home Foundation or the Parkinson Canada Foundation in Ron's name would be greatly appreciated.

He was such a steady and loving presence in my children’s lives. Their paternal grandfather was always there for them — caring for them, guiding them, and surrounding them with quiet strength and kindness. His devotion and the love he gave so generously will forever live on in their hearts. May the memories of his warmth and dedication bring comfort during this difficult time. Holding you all in my thoughts with compassion and respect.

Barry, I was saddened to learn of your father's passing. He raised an exceptional son, who has contributed greatly to the scientific community. His legacy of passion and integrity clearly lives on. My condolences to you and your family.
