Décédée paisiblement à Sherbrooke le 20 mars 2023, Burleigh était la fille de feu Richard Anderson et de feu Florence Nadeau, elle était la chère épouse de feu James R. Jones pendant 67 ans.
Burleigh est née le 14 juin 1932 à Harrington Harbour, Québec et y a vécu la moitié de sa vie. Elle était une compagne omniprésente pour son mari Jim, un gardien de phare, à Cape Whittle, au Québec. Elle l'a aidé avec le Service météorologique national du Canada. Elle était avant tout une épouse et une mère dévouée. Elle a savouré la journalisation pendant des décennies. Elle aimait lire et tricoter avec une spécialité de chaussons et de mitaines au fil des ans. Elle aimait visiter la famille et les réunions de famille. Elle a fait de superbes petits pains collants et de merveilleux poissons frais frits. Elle était connue pour avoir pêché elle-même sa part de morue fraîche car son père était pêcheur. Elle avait une présence discrète mais pouvait faire connaître ses souhaits et ses sentiments avec un regard que sa famille connaissait bien. Elle et Jim ont passé leurs années de retraite à Sherbrooke pour se rapprocher de leur famille immédiate. Elle a apprécié certains voyages pour rendre visite à sa famille au Massachusetts, en Floride, à Edmonton, en Alberta et dans les provinces maritimes. Les dernières années ont été passées au Grace Village Retirement and Assisted Living à Sherbrooke. Notre matriarche va nous manquer.
Elle a élevé trois enfants, Helen (Dave) Stewart de Franklin, Massachusetts, Norma (Marc-André) Gosselin de Magog, Québec, et Neil et Wendy (Dustin) Jones d'Ogden, Québec.
Burleigh a sept petits-enfants : Nicolas (Lianne) Gosselin, Michelle Gosselin, Ashlee (Marc) Jones-Charron, Alicia (Nick) Jones-Norrie, Amy (Michael) Jones-Breault, Kathryn (James) Dennis-Chaknis, Stephanie (Nick) Dennis-Decoulos.
Elle a huit arrière-petits-enfants et compte toujours : Nolan et Remi Gosselin, Evan et Ava Charron, Jacob et Caleb Norrie, Logan et Elodie Breault, la belle-arrière-petite-fille Ellie Decoulos et l'arrière-petite-fille de Decoulos qui doit naître en avril.
Elle manquera à sa soeur et son frère: Lillian (Willie) Cox, Howard (Patsy) Anderson et plusieurs nièces et neveux. Elle est précédée de sa sœur décédée Joan (feu Paul) Bobbitt.
Elle a été précédée par ses beaux-frères et belles-sœurs décédés : Minnie (Ernest) Bobbitt, Florence (Samuel) Anderson, Gladys (David) Ransom, Gordon (Myrtle) Jones, John (Beatrice) Jones et Effie (Lawrence) Legein.
Les funérailles privées auront lieu à la Résidence Funéraire Cass, 545, Dufferin, Stanstead, Qc, J0B 3E0, le 1er avril 2023, à 11h. Les funérailles seront réservées à la famille. L'inhumation aura lieu au cimetière Griffin.
La famille tient à remercier le personnel de Grace Village pour les merveilleux soins prodigués.
