dear Ann, My deepest sympathies on the loss of your DaDo. I have not stopped thinking of Marshall, and the immense impact that he had on my very happy childhood. We were the best of friends as we grew up together. In the summer and weekends, I spent dawn thru dusk with my best buddy in our very small neighborhood world. The borders of our world were from rue Dearden hill (to the south), to the Desaulniers Pontiac-GMC dealership (to the north), to la Rivière St François (to the west) to the hardwood sawmill and spring water source at the end of rue Brown, where we played and explored. We explored and adopted the Canada Paper woods on rue Brown, the Canada Paper abandoned Band Stand, climbed the adjacent 200+ year old Willow Tree, used (unauthorized) Mr Wheeler`s hay barn as a Club House, caught frogs, snakes and a Snapping Turtle at the Wheeler pond, hunted, fished, played behind the old Eastern Townships Bank lot, played on the rail siding and rail cars, played under the abandoned old grain elevator buildings. Life was so much simpler, and fun ..... truly fun, with Marshall by my side. My day would start with the clitter-clatter of Marshall riding his modified and uniquely decorated wagon with several tiger tails (Imperial Oil`s `Put a Tiger in Your Tank`promotion item of a stuffed tiger tail) and several Mad Magazine decals, speeding down rue Craig, onto rue Brown and onto our home`s driveway and lawn .... sometimes crash landing. One time, unknown to Marshall he piloted his wagon at full speed down rue Craig, onto rue Brown thru raw sewage (the municipal sewage line had blocked on rue Brown and the sewage had overflowed), and then into our yard ... what a disgusting mess. Margot was not pleased ! Our parents recognized our deep friendship, and our mothers, Margot and Billie treated us as sons. Our favourite meal was sweet pineapple spareribs, and whenever either mother prepared this as a meal, we were both guaranteed a seat at their tables . Of course, there are secrets that I can not easily disclose, such as being pursued thru the Windsor & Brompton Consolidated Elementary School yard and soccer field by a Windsor Mills police cruiser, responding to Halloween prank complaint at that school. I wonder who was behind that prank? lol Later in our pre-teens we would spend time at Willow Brook, accessing the 3 kms, by either the railway line or by bicycle. Marshall`s bike was a banana seat high handled bar model, which he adored. This was a favourite spot for us to fish and swim, especially near the old waterwheel foundation and waterfall. Not long after, our interest in girls started and our innocence was lost. Marshall will always be my true friend. He was a kind, gentle, honest soul that I confided in, and although we drifted apart during adulthood, we were always very very happy to see each other when I visited Windsor. Until we meet again along `The Long And Winding Road`. Now, rest my dear buddy !

My condolences to the Robb family. As a Windsor native, I spent many afternoons and evenings on the front steps of Marshall's place on rue Principale. So many laughs and deep discussions about music, art, etc. A great guy with a wicked sense of humour.

Marshall was a great friend. We traveled together, made music together, and I spoke to him not long ago. His passing was a shock to me because he had scheduled a meeting on my calendar, and he passed away before we could meet again... I am deeply saddened. The last time I saw him, less than three months ago, he was smiling, and we were joking together despite his illness. I will miss his laughter... My condolences to all.

I'm so sorry to hear about Marshall's passing. I lost touch with him after high school but I have fond memories of him in Windsor as being a very kind and gentle person who always showed deep respect to everybody that he crossed paths with. I also remember him as having a wonderful appreciation for music and for being a unique and respected person in our community. I sincere condolences to all of you at this difficult time.
